Freeman Art’s Pavilion
After graduating, I worked as a freelance graphic designer and had the opportunity to collaborate with Freeman Arts Pavilion in Selbyville, Delaware. They tasked me with designing a poster and an Instagram post to promote their summer concert series. Using the venue's brand colors, I crafted a striking blue guitar that spanned across the poster. I then carefully balanced the layout to ensure all event details fit seamlessly on both the poster and the Instagram format, while maintaining visual harmony and readability.
In addition, I was also tasked with creating a print ad for the venue, which required me to incorporate specific event details and photos. I began by selecting a dynamic image from a previous concert crowd, which I felt best captured the energy and excitement of the venue. To ensure the logo stood out against the vibrant background, I applied a subtle white overlay, creating a clean, high-contrast space for the logo to shine.
Once the visual foundation was set, I carefully organized the necessary event information, like venue details, so that it was easy to read and visually balanced within the layout. To complement the text and maintain a sense of harmony, I reserved strategic negative space for additional images. For these photos, I added a soft drop shadow effect to make them stand out, giving them more depth and helping them "pop" off the page. This subtle yet effective use of shadow ensured that the photos didn't get lost in the design and contributed to the overall energetic and professional feel of the ad.
The end result was a cohesive, visually striking print ad that not only conveyed all of the important event information but also captured the lively, immersive atmosphere of the venue itself. By combining thoughtful layout, dynamic imagery, and clean design elements, I created a poster that would draw attention and excite potential attendees.
